Local show jumper Kara Chad helps Team Canada win in Mexico

Calgary equestrian rider Kara Chad put together a couple of clear rounds on the weekend at the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Mexico, helping Canada to a second consecutive victory in the 2104 Jumping Series.

The 18-year-old, partnered with 11-year-old Alberto II, impressed in her first senior level international competition in which she was part of a veteran team along with Ian Millar, Jonathon Millar and Chris Sorensen.

“We’re so lucky to have a great team with members such as Kara Chad who’s just turned 18 and participating in a Nations Cup for the first time, producing a double clear, this is amazing!” said Ian Millar.

Millar defeated American Beezie Madden in a jump-off to seal the win for Canada. The third and final qualifier will be held at Spruce Meadows next month.
